What is MikeEsfahani.tv? After nearly two decades of teaching privately, Mike launched Mike Esfahani Piano to share his talents as a professional music educator with the world. Using proven method books already in the student's curriculum, Mike brings 18 years of teaching experience directly to their smartphone, tablet, or any other device.

What are Mike’s private instruction hours? Mike teaches Monday through Friday, early afternoon and well into the evening. Please view the contact page for more specific openings or to request a potential time directly.

Will Mike come to our home? No. While the convenience factor is appealing, numerous studies indicate that students progress far better in the nurturing, professional environment of their instructor’s studio free from potential distractions of home.

Where is Mike located? Mike’s studio is central to South Orange County in the city of Rancho Santa Margarita, California. Click here for address or to contact Mike directly.

Do I need a piano? No. This is a major misconception. Although already owning an acoustic piano is a bonus, beginning students will only need a minimum 61-key keyboard after their first lesson. Retailers such as Target or Costco offer these instruments for a nominal cost. Depending on the student’s dedication, this instrument is sufficient for the first six to nine months of lessons until a weighted, 88-key instrument (acoustic or digital) is procured.

I’m an adult. Is it too late to start? Absolutely not. Mike has students ranging from three years old to 80 years young. A number of his adult students began with little or no experience and now, in a short amount of time, play at a formidable level. Additionally, the health benefits of learning a new instrument, particularly one as dextrous as piano, are numerous.

My work schedule varies/has me traveling a lot. Can I still take lessons? Yes. While each student is assigned a set time that most-conveniently works for mutual parties, Mike's schedule is flexible and can accommodate busy individuals.

I used to take lessons. Do I need to start over? No. In only the first lesson, Mike can assess the student’s ability, what they do/do not remember, their strengths and limitations, and then develops a custom curriculum that fits the student’s needs. Students often find that concepts they were certain they had forgotten return to them very quickly.

What levels does Mike teach? Mike teaches from beginning to advanced including collegiate-level students.

Does Mike teach students with special needs or learning disabilities? Yes, Mike has had great success teaching students with special needs including children with high-functioning autism. Additionally, Mike has been highly successful in teaching students with severe anxiety, ADD, and ADHD.

What genres and styles does Mike teach? Mike teaches all genres and styles.

May I sit in on my child’s lesson? Yes! Parents and guardians are encouraged to sit in on lessons.

I have found more economical options for piano lessons. Why should I take lessons with Mike? Mike’s rates are extremely competitive for his experience and abilities. You will not find a more qualified teacher for yourself or your child. Please refer to Mike’s Difference for more information.

Do you have recitals? Yes, annual recitals are offered to well-prepared students. There is, however, no requirement to play in a recital should students/parents choose not to.
